Piedra Roja 2012, oaked red wine from Toro, Zamora is one of the best examples of the Designation of Origin Toro. Exclusively made with "Tinta de Toro" Grapes, very intense in the nose and in the palate but very well structured and elegant.
Luis Gutiérrez tasting note (The Wine Advocate) for 2010: "The 2010 Piedra Roja is pretty advanced for its age and has aromas of baked apples, decayed roses and plums with spicy aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with polished tannins, ready to drink. Quite pleasant. Drink now."
Sommelier recommendation: Perfect wine for red meats, Iberian cured ham and strong cheeses.
Tasting note: Brilliant, attractive, intense red-cherry colour, with a hint of purple in the rim. In nose it is complex, showing an abundance of mature red fruits over a spicy backbone. The wine sits well in the mouth and again shows nuances of red fruits. Ripened tannins lend structure, although the wine also maintains a refreshing level of acidity. End of taste with long and aromatic finish.
